Coast Guard Commendation Medium

Established by the Commandant of the Coast Guard in 1947.
Awarded to members of the Coast Guard who distinguish themselves by heroic or meritorious achievement, by performing acts in a manner above the normally expected manner.
The spray of laurel represents the ancient symbol of achievement.
