North American FJ-4B “Fury”
The DVHAA’s FJ-4B is ID# 143568. Built in 1956, this aircraft served with Navy and Marine Corps squadrons including ones in California and Hawaii. The last of these planes entered naval service in 1958.
Colonel Sylvester Lapkewiecz, A Docent at the Wings of Freedom Aviation Museum; and also former Commanding Officer of VMF 218 at NAS Willow Grove, flew this actual plane.
The FJ-4 was taken off-line in 2015 to update the paint scheme to be that of the Willow Grove markings. It was returned to the museum in 2017.
