Grumman F9F-2 “Panther”
As an early carrier-based jet fighter that could carry a wide assortment of air-to-ground munitions, the F9F Panther flew combat missions in Korea by the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps. This model also became the first jets used by the Navy’s Blue Angel flight demonstration team for the 1949 through 1954 seasons.
The DVHAA’s F9F-2 is Bureau #127120. It spent the majority of its life at the Naval Air Development Center in Johnsville, PA. It was stricken from service in 1962 and purchased by Philadelphia Attorney Arthur Alan Wolk, who had it restored for static display prior to donating it to the DVHAA in 1986.
