Purple Heart Medal

Purple Heart Medium

Established by General George Washington in 1782.
Re-established by the War Department in 1932
Awarded to any member of the Armed Forces of the United States who has been wounded, killed, who has died or may die of wounds received in armed combat or as a result of an act of international terrorism.
